Two of the main French pilgrimage ways, the Tours and Vézelay ways, as well as the ways coming from Dieppe or going towards Mont-Saint-Michel, cross the Centre-Val de Loire region. For pilgrims coming from the north of France or Europe, these routes are essential to reach Roncesvalles, on the border with Spain, passing through major pilgrims centers or French religious.
In their journey, the pilgrims will travel through a region of remarkable richness both for its sites and preserved natural spaces, its remarkable buildings (castles, monuments, churches, sanctuaries) and for its traditional and living lands. Calm, slightly uneven itineraries, easily practicable by bike, marked out by numerous jacquaire buildings and by the castles of the Loire. The Centre-Val de Loire region therefore combines heritage, culture, history and the environment with the pilgrimage to Compostela.
