The Way of Chartres

The Way of Chartres ends at Mont Saint-Michel, where the jacquets gather and start, where the miquelots arrive. This way is one of the components of the European pilgrimage route which connects Italy to Mont Saint-Michel. In particular, via the Way of the Cathedrals, it allows pilgrims to join the Way of Vézelay or that of  Tours via Chartres or Orléans.

This way is implemented and maintained by the community : Les Chemins du Mont Saint-Michel.

The Way of Chartres crosses a single department of the Centre-Val de Loire region (CVL), Eure-et-Loir (28).

Only one association from the CVL region is participating in the development of this route : Les Amis de Saint-Jacques d’Eure-et-Loir.

Upstream of the Centre-Val de Loire region, the route crosses the Normandy region : For more informations, see the Association Normande des Amis de Saint Jacques.

In Chartres, the route joins the Way of Tours.

The Main Montois Way

The Main Montois Way ends at Mont Saint-Michel, place of gathering and departure of backgammon, place of arrival of miquelots. It connects Mont Saint-Michel, a high place of pilgrimage, to Tours where the sanctuary of Saint-Martin is also located, being as close as possible to historic paths.

It allows pilgrims to join the Way of Tours to reach Santiago, passing through Château-du-Loir, Neuillé-Pont-Pierre and Le Mans, walking from town to town, through plains of valleys and forests.

This way, with double markings (marking in both directions), is implemented and maintained by the associations : Les Chemins du Mont Saint-Michel, Société Française des Amis de Saint Jacques de Compostelle et par Chemins de Compostelle en Touraine.

The Main Montois Way crosses a single department of the Centre-Val de Loire region (CVL), Indre-et-Loire (37).

Only one association from the CVL region is participating in the development of this route : Les Chemins de Compostelle en Touraine.

Upstream from the Centre-Val de Loire region, the route crosses the Normandie region : For more informations, see the Les Chemins du Mont Saint-Michel community.

In Tours, the route joins the Way of Tours.
