The Grand Chemin Montois begins at Mont Saint-Michel, a gathering place and departure point for backgammon, a place of arrival for miquelots. This way links Le Mont Saint-Michel, a high place of pilgrimage, to Tours where the sanctuary of Saint-Martin is also located. It allows pilgrims to join the Way of Tours to go to Santiago by walking from town to town, through plains of valleys and forests.
This way therefore crosses only one department of the Centre-Val de Loire region, the Indre-et-Loire (37).
Before arriving in the Centre-Val de Loire region, takes the pilgrimage routes to Compostela or to the Mont Saint-Michel in the Normandy region developed and maintained, in particular, by the Les Chemins du Mont Saint-Michel association.
